Officers mentioned they were contacted by a man who found a automobile in Hanau covered with reddish fluid

Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Officers say they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.

The substance had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Officers then discovered numerous other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials state initial examinations indicate the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no lead as to its source; authorities are presently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they commented.

City officials announced they were trying "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for tips.

An important representative commented the attack made him stunned and needed to be solved quickly.

"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
